The last time I wrote, we were fleeing a huge thunderstorm as quickly as we could. We drove away from Arles, in the south of France, as quickly as we could haul arse on a rainy dark morning. We had spent the night at the Ibis budget hotel and were trying to make our way to Le Brasilia camping resort in Canet en Roussillon just above the Spanish/ French border, near Perpignan.

A couple of times we had asked ourselves whether it was sensible to have booked a beach resort, after the beach winds and rain we had just experienced! But it was already booked, we had paid the deposit and it said 5 star so we really were hoping for a little taste of luxury.

And when we got here…. boy was it luxury! It was just what we needed after a couple of hard days. We are here now and this resort is lovely. It really is 5 star for us! It has lovely pools, waterslides, entertainment, a stunning beach, views of the Pyrenees, lizards, geckos, beers, amazing services, spacious and protected pitches (now we know what a thunderstorm feels like, this is really important!) and our kids can roam freely and feel confident.

Maybe this is the storm talking, but we have a renewed appreciation for safety! And also a nice bar 😆

We cracked out a good amount of home education today, maths, English, and science. The kids are doing a science project on reptile ecosystems here, which is really interesting and involves looking for the rare Ocellated Lizard (Timon Lepidus). We are really hoping we get to see one while we are in the region!

As it stands, the Catalonian wall lizard is coming out on top. Our oldest child says he thinks it’s very nice here and that it feels very tropical. Luckily for us, his English essay this morning was much more eloquent and expansive! 🤣

Thunderstorms are predicted here tomorrow, so we will see what comes our way. For now, we’re just enjoying it and learning to live in the moment each more every day. Which has probably been the biggest takeaway on our motorhome adventure!
