It came at last! Our final beach day down near Milford on Sea, on the south coast of the UK. We were sad to say goodbye for now, but excited to head off for our next trip. We made the most of the sunshine and worked out in the morning, drank cold iced coffees and teas and did some home education (creative writing and times tables today). Then after lunch we made our way to Hordle Beach for a last bodyboard and swim in the sea….. except, the sea was super rough!
There were a fair few adults out in the waves on bodyboards trying to catch them, but when our daughter tried to get out there, the current was very strong and the waves so high that she couldn’t always stay on her feet. We would have brought her out and back to the beach, but she called time on it herself and said she’ll wait for another calmer day to get back out there!
My husband and son, however, gave it a good shot and loved the rough, spraying waves! They were huge (for England at this time of year anyway!) and they managed a couple of runs in before calling time on it themselves.
A sailboat anchored near the coastline was being tossed about in the surf and in the sunshine, it was pretty beautiful to watch. They didn’t stay for long though and disappeared in the horizon after a while.
After getting salty, wet and cold, the kids did some rock drawing, with some sharpies we had in our bag and the smooth rocks on the beach. It was a very relaxing and happy way to spend an hour on the beach in the sun with the kids!
My son, who is into Japanese art, spent some time sketching One Piece style characters.
My creation was slightly less creative and talented!
The kids sketched and coloured and left some little messages for other kids to find (hopefully!)… we hope they bring excitement to someone who might find them soon!
In the next few days, we head to Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire to play golf at Woburn Golf Club and get prepped for our motorhome trip to the forest. We can’t wait! It will be a huge change from the coast, but we’re excited to move on. It’s been absolutely gorgeous here though!
N.B. as we left via the New Forest the next day, we saw many beautiful little foals with their mothers among the trees. But these two foals were having a cuddle in the middle of the drivers side of the road!
